I think that's a bad translation. What Wellens really said was:

"I just totally got my ass kicked today, but because I'm a very small man - and that doesn't refer only to my pecker - I lack the character to admit that. So instead I'll just sit here and make excuses, and ridicule the guys who beat me fair and square. As a side benefit, this will clear up any question in your mind as to whether I'm a good guy, or just a fast punk on a bike."

See? When it's translated correctly, it makes perfect sense.
